Bathing can be a true art-form!! While legends say that Cleopatra used honey and milk to achieve soft and sweet smelling skin… thankfully we have many more options available now! We thought we would share a few of our favourite natural ingredients, what they do and why we love them…
Have you noticed that we have camomile, jasmine, rosemary, and lavender in our lovely Lords & Ladies logo?! Nikkita Palmer really captured what we wanted when designing our updated logo a couple of years ago. We are also big fans of a herbal tea and are always encouraging our clients to enjoy one of our Teapigs brews.
Lavender – The top oil for essential oil lovers.
Soothes, Detoxifies, Heals
Used throughout history for a multitude of ailments, today we associate lavender for reducing headaches, stress busting and inducing that all important beauty sleep! Lavender oil helps to boost the natural anti-inflammatory properties of our skin which encourages healing.
White Tea – Great as a cuppa or in skincare!
Anti-ageing, Anti Oxidant
Our skin contains enzymes that gobble up the collagen and elastin proteins that keep our skin young and plumptious, leaving our skin prone to premature ageing – White Tea to the rescue!! The same way a paint job reduces oxidation to cars, the super high antioxidant value of white tea reduces ageing damage to our skin.
Orange Blossom – A personal favourite! Also known as Neroli.
Reduces anxiety, Hydrating, Fights blocked pores
Naturally high in Vitamin C, Orange blossom stimulates cell renewal giving it anti scarring properties. It is also antiseptic, antibacterial AND anti inflammatory which helps to keep the skin clean and the pores clear. (No wonder we love it so much!)
Eucalyptus – A super popular ingredient in skincare.
Antibacterial, Deep cleansing, Healing
Active chemical components of eucalyptus essential oil make it purifying, cleansing, clarifying and immune boosting. We often associate this ingredient with oily, acne prone skin but it is also great for calming sensitive skins, prone to eczema and psoriasis too, protecting all skins from harmful environmental damage like air pollution.
Also the breakfast, lunch and dinner of Koala’s… imagine how good their skin must be under all that fur!!
Bergamot – Another one that’s top of our list!
Reduces pain & inflammation, Lowers stress levels.
If you’re a fan of Earl Grey tea, you’re already familiar with the distinctive smell and taste of Bergamot. Bergamot oil is extracted from the rinds of Citrus fruit that grows on bergamot orange trees, originally traced back to Southeast Asia, prized for it’s soothing scent and spicy taste.
We love bergamot for a number of reasons but particularly because it’s citrus like scent is not masculine or feminine and is loved by all.
Grapefruit
Brightening, Uplifting, Great for general well being
Particularly good at brightening and reviving the skin due to naturally acidic properties. These vitamin powerhouses are rich in antioxidants and help to protect the skin against free radicals.
Also a natural source of Vitamin A and Salicylic Acid, it helps with a deep cleanse, leaving skin feeling smooth and even.
(An absolute best seller – daily microfoliant, also has grapefruit in!)
These are just a few of our favourites – in massage oil, in skincare products, in tea… The list really is endless!
Take some time to run the bath, add some of these yummy natural ingredients, all found in the NEW Body Collection from dermalogica, and take a few deep breaths… be ready to feel truly pampered in you own bathroom!
