Sleep is crucial to our health, just like food and water. A good night’s sleep makes your body physically and mentally rejuvenated and is vital for the brain to function better. Without a decent night’s sleep we notice a dip in concentration, productivity, and performance. Here at Lords & Ladies, in our wonderfully relaxing environment, we often help clients drift off into a light sleep during one of our many relaxing treatments and a snore here and there is a great compliment!!
We don’t just rely on our therapeutic music and dimmed lights for this! We use an abundance of gorgeous smelling products with essential oils to ensure you have the chance to float off and catch up on some snoozing!
The smell of lavender oil has a powerful effect on your mood and sleep and is one of the few oils that scientists have actually done extensive research on as it relates to insomnia. A 2015 study found that after eight weeks of inhaling lavender nightly, 100% of the women who participated had a significant improvement in their sleep quality.
Our favourite way of getting lavender into our bedtime ritual is with a calming pillow mist such as our Sleepy Head room and pillow spray mist with lavender, frankincense and chamomile which helps you drift off to a good night’s sleep. This pillow mist is a great way to take advantage of aromatherapy and help ease anxiety, helping your mind and body to relax.
We are launching some wonderful Sleepy Head gifts at our Christmas event this year on Monday 2nd December including the brand new Sleepy Head bath salts – such a blissful way to experience the benefit of the essential oils from head to toe.
We are always looking for ways to introduce essential oils into everyday living, be it in bath salts, a candle or pillow mist, here are a few to look out for…
Stress and Anxiety relief – Lavender, petigrain, marjarom, clary sage and bergamot have great calming qualities.
Sleep Disorders – Lavender, frankincense and chamomile aromatherapy have been used to improve sleep disorders as they promote deep relaxation. These oils are oil go-to for calming down the mind and which is why we use in our Sleepy Head pillow mist.
Dementia – Lemon balm essential oil reduces agitation in patients with dementia. It is applied twice daily to the face and arms. Steam inhalation of lavender also helps patients with dementia.
Low Mood – Coriander, rose, sweet orange, ylang ylang, lime and grapefruit are all great mood boosters.
No Energy – Lemon, peppermint and rosemary keep your mind focused.
Balancing moods – Patchouli, geranium, cedarwood are the best oils when our minds are all over the place.
We hope to see you very soon at our very special Christmas event!
